AS Monaco is pleased to announce the club has activated the purchase option for Thilo Kehrer. The 27 year old German international centre back, who arrived in January from West Ham United (Premier League) has signed a 4-season deal and has joined les Rouge & Blanc through June 2028.

Kehrer gone to Monaco on a perm

I don't see us buying anyone from Norwich. Kilman very viable for reasons known, plus Wolves have to sell.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Was kilman his captain at wolves?

I see Norwich are in trouble so could we pick up Sara and Rowe (think that’s the right spellings and can’t be bothered to check this early).

Re: The summer transfer window thread
JWP would be the obvious choice if he was a starter Lopetegui.

I can't see anyone from the current crop that stands out. I agree with Fare Cough. I like a captain to be in the middle of the pitch.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
I think Bowen would be a good choice

Assume everyone is thinking we will try and move Zouma with his dodgy knee on
If we are trying to transition to a team that has the ball I'd be moving Soucek out .... should get a decent fee for him especially if he has a good Euros

Clubfoot Tomas?

Interesting choice.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Soucek should have been captain this year.

Always leads by example in terms of effort and work rate. I notice he is always speaking to the ref as well.

Far Cough 10:39 Fri May 17
Re: The summer transfer window thread
I prefer my captains to be midfield generals or central defenders, therefore I would choose Alvarez but the bloke is a walking red card, so that leaves........?

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Bowen should be captain. Committed his long term future, understands the club, sets example with his work rate, our key player, and has grown in influence. Also has his head screwed on and talks very well.

Seems entirely logical to me.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
I can't see JWP being in the starting line up next season so can't see him being captain.

FWIW I reckon Paqueta will still be here.

If Lop is playing his favoured 433 I see us setting up as below. I reckon we need new 4 new 1st team signings:

------------------------ Areloa
-- New RB --- Mavro ----- New CB --- Emerson
--------- Kudus ----- Alvarez ----- Paqueta
--- Bowen -------- New CF ----------- New LW

If Paqueta goes it would be a little underwhelming to have JWP in his place.

Depending upon how many U21s step up and who is retained I reckon we will need another 2-3 new signings for the squad.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
There’s no reason why he can’t flourish in a new system.

As an experienced, Premier league Englishman, he gets my vote as captain

Re: The summer transfer window thread
I keep reading that JWP is going to be captain next season which is strange as it would mean he is in the starting 11.

LJC 5:06 Thu May 16
Re: The summer transfer window thread
Scott I read one of his stipulations coming here is that signings are not left to the end of the window due to the massive overhaul and that he and Tim have already been in contact with players and clubs to get them done early. That’s not to say some won’t come in late but the majority are done early and he has already identified who they are. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 3/4 signings in the first couple of weeks. Probably wants them done early due to euros but doesn’t that kick off the same time the window opens?

Sir Alf,

Agree.
I expect that some of our best signings this summer will be names that we've either never heard of or not thought about before.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Saw a headline this morning, I think it was a West Ham site but I can't remember where it was, that stated "West Ham assembling amazing team under Lopetegui". Which was odd because we haven't made any signings yet.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Amusing reading all the rumours on web sites but these self appointed ITKs and “experts” are clueless like us on who we are moving for or might be negotiating with. They use a scattergun which is usually based on history of players we have looked at or been linked with in the past or previously played for Loprtegui or were coached by him.

Logical in some ways but suspect most names suggested are wide of the mark.

I just hope Steidten and team along with Loppy get younger, pacy players in the main who have good technique. They wont be established if we are to get them or would already have been snapped up by the super rich teams across Europe.

In short, a few more ( in positions we need to upgrade ). like Kudus please :-)

Too demanding and unrealistic expections ? Who me?

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Yeah, hopefully Areola won't miss too many, but he's not had any serious or long term injuries before, so I don't think there's anything to be concerned about. Also, I imagine Moyes figured that his No 2 was almost equal to Areola so didn't rush him back. Certainly 2 of the 7 league games he missed this season he was on the bench for and could have played.

I expect Anang will be 3rd choice unless maybe Trott comes back. Anang at least played a role this season in helping Kudus get settled (they're both from Accra) and used to drive him to and from training, etc.

Nagel 12:39 Wed May 15

Yeah, as I said, not injury prone...lol! Must be honest I didn't realise his attendance record at Fulham was quite so strong, but this is the first season for us as first choice so the first in which he's been called upon to play week in week out (and the first at 30+) and he's missed almost 20% of the league games.

Obviously Fab is staying, but who's third choice, Anang?

Sorry it wasn’t aimed at you.

I was laughing at the level of nonsense these YouTubers come out with.
